I notice Santos Laguna have played four and Benitez has score 2,1,2 and 1 in those four games.
Well done Christian. Keep it up. You were not treated at all well at Blues and I feel let down and cheated by those responsible.

He made 30 league appearances and scored 3 goals he had his chance to justify his price tag, but in a team like ours who didn't manage to beat a team by more than 1 goal last season we need goalscorers upfront

30 league appearances? I don't think so, unless you class throwing him on for the last 10 mins as an appearance.
As I say, he was treated shabbily by some at Blues.

he was treated perfectly fairly for a player new to the premier league who's team were demanding a high transfer fee yet only managed to score 3 goals.
he wasn't fit when he came so started alot of his earlier games on the bench. then, like any player from such a foreign background, he was slowly bled into the first team. then he was a first team regular for a long while, didn't deliver and so had to work for his place like everyone else in the team.
what would you have done differently loudham? apart from slag off AMc at any opportunity. he was given every opportunity possible to succeed at this club and failed. now he's playing in a league which is probably the equivilent of our league 1 and scoring a few goals, big deal. he couldn't cut it in the big leagues and we've moved on. i suggest you do the same and get behind this current team rather then watching the career of a blues reject in mexico for a chance to slag off the manager again.

21 starts 9 subs is a fair crack for a young foreign striker and a return of 3 goals doesn't justify his price tag really does it?
It's fine scoring goals in a poor league but defenders in the premier league are completely different to the ones he's currently running rings around

Unfortunately, much as i would love it to be so, we do not have the privilege of having a local UK league of the quality of the Brazilian or Spanish leagues. So Benitez did not fit the dash around like headless chicken UK style of football. He may well flourish elsewhere. Don't blame Blues for his lack of success, blame the FA maybe, or even the fans for not demanding better football, but not Blues in isolation.

then he was a first team regular for a long while, didn't deliver and so had to work for his place like everyone else in the team.
What he didn't deliver on the scoresheet, he delivered in raising the level of play of others.
The undeniable truth is the unbeaten streak started with his inclusion in the starting 11 and ended with his exclusion. Once Blues were guaranteed safety McLeish started experimenting by keeping him out of the side and the losses started piling up. Then he started and once again, Blues got back to winning ways.
Although as some have stated, perhaps it was just a big coincidence.
In watching his goals this season, you may note he is provided good service by #10 Daniel Luduena, a former Argentine youth international. This is what Blues need - a creative midfielder to keep possession and provide service to the strikers. I always found it odd that Blues #10 is Jerome - on most teams, the #10 is the midfield general, not the striker. Without a true #10, you can have whoever you want playing up front, but if they never see the ball, they're not going to produce much except the odd scrappy goal.

Of course, Zigic cost less than what Benitez would have cost, which is irrelevant because Benitez failed the tests to join West Ham so wouldn't have been able to sign for us anyway

6 are about chucho, including one where you mentioned buying nani as he would work well with benitez, getting owen because you said you "could see him feeding off Chucho's passes"
I think someone has a little obsession.

Not obsessed - just Ecuadorian :D
I'm following Blues again this season but I think it will be a struggle. Last season was a success beyond anyone's expectations, and it is not surprising to consider Chucho a big factor. If anything, the team needed players to complement Chucho (hence the Nani comment - remember early last season Man Utd was considering loaning him out due to poor form). Instead, McLeish has replaced him with a tall, powerful player who offers something totally different. We'll see how that works.

:applause: I'm glad you're still following us even though Benitez has gone....despite the knocks you get from Pooley. Ignore him as he doesn't know much about football, he's stating Charles N'Zogbia is rubbish as well. I don't know what it is with him but how can you not rate Benitez or N'Zogbia.
Anyway M220V, you'll have to keep us posted on Benitez' perfornaces for Ecuador. **thumbup
As for Santos Laguna I noticed they lost 1-0 last Saturday....so Benitez' record is 6 goals in 5 games.
